The McElroy family name has been associated with Florida’s irrigation industry since the early forties. Tasha McElroy started Mac’s Well Drilling in Orlando in 1942. It was his son Bob who created Mac’s Sprinkler in 1971. He was the first licensed contractor in Orlando. and quickly grew his business to become one of the largest design /built contractors across the state. Bob sold Mac’s Sprinklers in 1986 to create his new venture, Central Florida Irrigation Supply. This was a fully serviced supply house originally located in Longwood, Florida, but as the client based quickly expanded, he opened up a second branch the following year in Kissimmee, Florida.

IRR Design actually started out as a service that was offered at Central Florida Irrigation Supply. They provided free irrigation plans to their customers as a service to attract new clients and build loyalty. In 1990, Central Florida Irrigation Supply was bought out by Banks Supply and eventually became a part of John Deere Landscapes. After a brief retirement Bob recreated Mac’s Sprinklers and quickly tackled some of Central Florida’s high profile projects.

Jason McElroy had worked many summers with his father learning the ins and outs of the irrigation industry. It was in 1997 when he joined his father’s company full time. In 1998, Bob and Jason scaled back Mac’s Sprinklers and enhanced their focus on developing IRR Design. Since then, IRR Design has developed a strong reputation for quality irrigation design in a broad range of landscape sites across Florida and the southeast. With thousands of signed and sealed irrigation designs bearing the name IRR Design, their company continues to grow. IRR Design is a member of both the Irrigation Association and the Florida Irrigation Society. After Bob McElroy's passing in October 2014, Jason has carried the family business forward.

For over 25 years Jason has been actively involved in the irrigation industry. He was introduced to the irrigation design industry while working as a foreman for Mac’s Sprinkler Systems. In-house working relationships with suppliers and customers has given Jason the ability to communicate throughout the entire irrigation project. He keeps current with new irrigation options by actively participating in meetings and manufacturers seminars. His commitment to the industry helps Jason keep up with the ever-changing irrigation market. Having a balance of experience from being involved in irrigation installation and servicing of irrigation products gives him the wide range of experience needed in today's irrigation design. The net result helps him bring together quality irrigation design projects by a good channel of communication between not only project Owners but also all parties involved, from the contractor to the suppliers.

Jason McElroy is factory trained in central control software and hardware applications by the leading irrigation manufacturers including Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Rain Master and Baseline. The team is also trained in AutoCAD, providing professional drawing standards and conventions to designs including custom, patent pending design details.
